The Kitchen of Life: What Are You Really Ordering?

admin

Hello Thoughtful People,

It’s been a little while, hasn’t it? I hope the last few posts gave you something to pause with. Something to digest slowly. Something to carry into your quiet moments.

I hope you’ve given yourself grace. I hope you’ve laughed, reset, let go. And most of all, I hope you’ve stayed thoughtful about who you are, what you’re becoming, and what you’re really asking life to serve you.

This week, let’s walk into a space I call The Kitchen of Life.
You’re Always Ordering Something, Even in Silence

Imagine this with me.

There’s a customer sitting at a table. They’re hungry, but unsure of what they want.

There’s a waiter, ready to take the order. Ready to pass it on.

And somewhere behind the scenes… a chef is already preparing a dish.

Now let me ask you:

What if the customer is your thoughts?

The waiter is your words and actions.

And the chef? That’s life… God… the universe… your future… preparing exactly what you’ve asked for, even if you didn’t mean to.

It hit me last week: the orders we give, consciously or unconsciously, create our outcomes.

And too often, we’ve been feeding the waiter confusion. Doubt. Delay. Fear.

We tell ourselves we want clarity, but place an order full of procrastination.

We say we want change, but feed the chef worry, overthinking, or silence (Oh Lord, help me, a work in progress for me)!

And then we’re surprised at what shows up at our table.

In the Kitchen of Life, Procrastination Is Still a Request

There’s something I’ve had to admit to myself:

Sometimes, I don’t communicate clearly with my own future.

Sometimes, I whisper fear instead of faith.

Sometimes, I doubt when I should declare.

Sometimes, I don’t place the order, because I don’t trust the kitchen.

And guess what? Life still hears that.

You don’t have to scream to be heard.

Your inaction is an order.

Your silence is still a message.

Your hesitation is still instruction.

I’ve watched this play out in my own story. Seasons where I was unclear, distracted, or spiritually asleep… I still got served. It just wasn’t what I wanted.

Because I didn’t ask for what I wanted.

The Subtle Power of Faith-Fueled Communication

I’ve been relearning this truth lately:

“Faith is placing an intentional order for what you cannot yet see, but trust will arrive.”

We often think faith is loud. Or perfect. Or flawless.

But sometimes, it’s the quiet courage to sit at the table and say:

“I’ll take what aligns with my future. Not my fear.”

This is what emotional intelligence asks of us;

To know our own patterns.

To know what we really believe.

To recognize the energy we place into the atmosphere.

And to ask boldly, consistently, and with vision.

Even when you’re tired.

Even when you’re unsure.

Even when you’ve never seen the dish before.

Who Are You in the Kitchen Today?

I believe we each wear all three hats.

  • Sometimes, we’re the customer: hungry, hopeful, unsure, healing.
  • Other times, we’re the waiter: translating emotions, speaking declarations, moving energy forward.
  • And at times, we’re the chef: making decisions, creating outcomes, shaping realities.

And when all three align, your thoughts, your words, your actions, that’s when life delivers a dish you actually want to eat.

Before You Place Your Next Order…

I want to ask you some questions. Sit with me on these. Not just today, but always.

  • What are your current thoughts ordering without your awareness?
  • Are your words sending the waiter in the right direction?
  • What has your procrastination or fear been quietly requesting?
  • Are you being intentional about what you ask the kitchen of life to prepare?
  • And when it shows up… will it taste like alignment or regret?
Until the next post…
xoxo, Stay thoughtful. 💜
