I hope you are all winning and engaging your sparkling minds. Again, it’s your thoughtful personality, and today, I want to share an experience with you all titled A Focused Mind. I believe many of us can relate to the challenges of maintaining focus in the face of distractions.
We all know that when someone is referred to as having a focused mind, it tells you a lot about their tenacity, determination, discipline, and intention to achieve a desired goal, which varies across individuals.
Now, this same focused mind is where most individuals are cheated from as it requires a level of concentration, and it takes some level of strategic building to be able to have a focused mind. To my experience, I started this year, 2024, all gingered up, and one of the things I focused on doing was to be consistent with my blog posts and also begin a project (which you all will get to know soon). However, something happened, and this created a huge distraction as I will call myself an organic writer; I believe it was divinely given to me by God’s Grace, which made me realize that, indeed, it is the case. My level of focus in writing was distracted due to what I was going through. I was under pressure as I thought my job was on the line due to certain happenings at my place of work. However, I had to call myself to order intentionally, as I knew it was a distraction. So, I had to deal with my job graciously responding to the situation with wisdom and then getting the tension out of the way. Then, I decided to get myself flowing as I could not even create a sentence.
Why am I sharing this with you all? Life will always happen to everyone, and we all have work to do. When I say work, I mean your life’s purpose to fulfill. Certain unexpected events will happen, and that can be a distraction. This is where you take deliberate action to have a focused mind. Have a reset on what is important to you and be intentional in acting toward those priorities. You will realize that the distractors or distractions are not part of those importance and priorities. It will give you the ability to make that shift and reset back to a focused mind.
It is also essential to know that getting back to a focused mind is not an overnight attempt or a walk in the park. It differs across individuals, but it takes time. It took me a month and a half to get myself back on track with my writing. I also suggest having quiet times. I withdrew a bit and was not having conversations with people I usually do. I just needed that natural mental detox, as it was a toxic situation, and I had to let that out. I also had to find time to heal as the situation offended me, and I had to forgive all the individuals involved, even without their apologies. What am I saying? You have the sole responsibility to forgive and walk away from any offensive/toxic situation, as a bitter mind cannot be a focused mind, and a focused mind cannot produce exceptional results. The reason is that you will be thinking of that offensive/toxic situation most of the time. Now, this might be a disappointment, setback, rejection, etc., whatever it is, I want you to find time to mentally detox, heal, forgive, and reset to a focused mind. Detoxing in any form is not a pleasant experience, so it applies to this one. Remember, forgiveness is not a sign of weakness but a powerful tool for personal growth and empowerment.
Lastly, I am big on lessons learned. I do not look at unpleasant experiences as regrets but as lessons learned. The best thing is to protect your mind; it takes some level of thick skin and a level of maturity to protect your mind and remain focused. The way people train for marathon runs is the same way I recommend we train our minds to prepare for betrayals, rejections, setbacks, disappointments, false accusations, etc. It is not something we all pray for; however, as long as we are in this journey called life, one thing or the other will happen; how will you prepare for it? Train your mind to prepare for these unexpected situations to be able to guard and have a focused mind so that you can continue to fulfill your purpose even though distractors or distractions come your way. You will know how to handle the situation better.
Now, think about a situation where you were distracted by an unpleasant situation and how that impacted your mind from being focused. Did you get back on track to fulfill your goals, or did you linger in the thoughts of that situation and how it hurt you? Remember, mentally detox, heal, forgive, and reset your mind! You can also share this situation with the Sparkling Minds community. Sharing our experiences can help us learn from each other and raise awareness for empowerment.
Remember, you are not alone in this journey.
Stay Thoughtful!
Sparkles!
I was wondering if it’s been a minute since you made a new post. Now, I figured! We must guard our minds; out of it comes the issues of life. I hope you are much better, as we need more thoughtful and mind-provoking posts.
I like your approach: mentally detox, heal, forgive, and reset your mind. It’s practical, and I will try to adopt this method.
Have you considered my suggestion of starting a podcast? 😁 … I know it will be mind-blowing!
