What do I mean by a fleeting piece of silver? It represents a form of reward; however, it is not the usual way we understand the reward system. This fleeting piece of silver I am referring to is the means by which people are willing to gain as a reward for doing the dirty work of others. It’s a prevalent behavior that can happen in any area. We can see it in corporate society, where people are ready to snitch and throw other people under the bus just to get this piece of silver in return, a promotion in position, a pay raise, or both, sometimes it might just be to gain access to belonging to a specific group of high status within a company that is respected. Or is it in politics where people play dirty games to gain power or stay in power? Let’s take it home within families and friends, where people sell out their relatives and bosom friends just for this same piece of silver. So, where am I going with this?
Let’s take a moment to reflect on the history of this elusive piece of silver. It’s a symbol that has woven itself into the very fabric of our past, carrying with it stories of betrayal and sacrifice. Consider the moment when Jesus Christ was captured and sent to the cross—a pivotal event shaped by betrayal, not from strangers but from one of His own disciples. This act of treachery was driven by the lure of silver, revealing how personal greed can distort even the most profound relationships.

Now, let’s journey further back in time to the harrowing chapters of history when Africans in Africa were forcibly taken into slavery. It’s important to acknowledge that many of these individuals were betrayed not just by outsiders but by their own kin, driven by the promise of silver in the form of tobacco, firearms, and alcohol. These exchanges serve as stark reminders of the lengths to which people will go for the sake of wealth, illustrating a pattern that transcends time and culture.
As we delve into these narratives, let’s explore how the pursuit of silver—whether literal or metaphorical—continues to influence our lives today. What are the costs we pay for our desires, and what do they reveal about our values? Let’s unravel these questions together.
People who use a piece of silver to betray others are highly calculated and mostly observant; they often hide in places where trust exists, staying close to those they used to share your secrets with. These people are skilled at manipulating others and usually hold positions of power, using their advantage to get what they want. They possess a keen understanding of human nature, particularly the darker traits that lie beneath the surface—greed, selfishness, and untrustworthiness. These observers carefully watch for the telltale signs, recognizing that those who harbor such qualities can be easily used as pawns in their schemes, especially if they are close to the intended target. As such, dear sparkling minds, I urge you to be vigilant and discerning. Seek the subtle traces of these traits within your own circle, for knowledge is your greatest ally; it empowers you to navigate the complexities of human relationships.
In contrast, ignorance can lead to peril. To delve deeper into uncovering the true nature of those around you, I invite you to explore my blog post, “ Who Is In Your Circle.” It might just be the means to gain your safety and peace of mind.

While this fleeting piece of silver may seem appealing at first, it ultimately has little real value for those who accept it as a reward. Why is that? Because it brings no true happiness, your conscience constantly whispers about how you got that promotion, access, or position of power, wealth—often through betraying someone’s trust or selling out. Consider Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus for a mere piece of silver. His actions led him to such despair that he took his own life, proving that the silver brought him no peace or joy. Now, think about the history of Africans who sold their own people to colonizers for the same shiny reward. They often found no protection under those colonizers and, in many cases, faced betrayal from their own kin, driven by the same greed. Can you see the painful cycle of betrayal in these stories? It serves as a significant reminder that certain rewards can come with a heavy price. Reason why it’s essential to be cautious of overambitious and overcompetitive individuals, as they can pose a threat to your well-being. While there are exceptions, many of them (not to generalize) are willing to sacrifice trust and relationships to achieve their goals. It’s crucial to evaluate your relationships and make the necessary adjustments to safeguard your life and the lives of your loved ones.
So, my sparkling minds and thoughtful people, make sure you try not to get yourself involved in any situation where you might be used as a means to an end to fulfill others’ negative agenda just because of a fleeting piece of silver. Let people know you to be trustworthy and, on the other hand, be very careful to know who is in your circle, as again, the ones that can sell you out for a piece of silver are not usually strangers; they are primarily people you once had a close relationship with and shared your most secrets with them. So be careful and beware of such!
